DNA and Telenor Connexion organized IoT as a driver of continuous digitalization event where top-of-the-field experts and companies shared their insights on the current – and future – field of Internet of Things. What new opportunities do IoT services offer your company with digitization? What added value does IoT produce for end customers? And above all - how do you get started on your IoT journey?
The IoT industry is expanding rapidly, with billions of connected devices expected to generate trillions in economic value. In recent years, companies have accelerated their digital transformation due to increased competition and the demand for more sustainable solutions. IoT is one of the key technology enablers, changing entire industries and creating value for both companies and their customers.
The event’s message was clear: by investing in IoT, companies can not only enhance their current operations but also future-proof their business in a rapidly digitizing world. However, one should not just blindly hop on the IoT wagon, it requires some careful consideration as well.
IoT as a competitive advantage for your business
“IoT has gone from a few to many in such a short time. In the field of IoT, people and companies are currently exposed to hype around REDCap, 5G, SGP.32 and AI. Suppose you are thinking of implementing IoT solutions. In that case you need to consider the use case first and then match the technology to it,” explains the event’s keynote speaker Martin Whitlock, CTO of Telenor Connexion.
Telenor Connexion is the portfolio of IoT solutions from Telenor Group, of which DNA is also a part. The company is a world-leading IoT connectivity provider helping organizations of all sizes connect and operate their devices – whether their use cases need local or global connectivity.
“IoT has the power to enhance our actions in multiple ways. It provides safety, sustainability, resilience, efficiency, productivity and competitive edge. By entering early, companies can capture market share in an evolving and highly lucrative space. This leads to cost reductions, increased productivity, and better resource management,” summarizes Ari Alakiuttu, VP of DNA, large and international customers.
From innovations to practice
To give a more practical point of view about IoT’s benefits DNA and Telenor Connexion’s customers, Oy Lining AB and Aidon shared their IoT journey and experiences in the field.
”DNA’s IoT connections facilitate real-time transmission of measurement data, which is integrated with Lining’s AQUAVISIO system. This system employs a machine learning model to construct and analyze the data, providing precise information on water flow and consumption. By merging telecommunications, intelligent data transfer, and water distribution, we position ourselves among the global leaders in water supply guidance solutions. ‘The happiest people, the best water’,” says Tero Auvinen, Head of Business at Lining.
Climate change, digitization, urbanization and renewable energy sources significantly impact the operating environment and the businesses of Nordic companies. This is why Aidon highlights the need to get even more accurate information from the network to balance electricity production and demand.
“To manage the changes, new solutions and services are needed for the needs of network companies and their customers. We don't have ready-made answers to all challenges, but we have the know-how, flexibility and will to create solutions that raise the daily work of online companies to a new level,” states Aidon’s CEO Tommi Blomberg.
As IoT continues to drive digital transformation across industries, its successful implementation hinges not only on selecting the right technology, but also on understanding the unique needs of each business and its customers.
